Visit a Scandinavian Christmas market featuring art, crafts, and food this weekend.
Do you know about the Yule goat? This Scandinavian symbol of the holiday season is a gift giver who is sometimes pictured as Santa’s companion.
In the spirit of the Yule goat, start your holiday preparations at New Sweden Cultural Heritage Society’s event.
The Scandinavian Christmas Goat Market
On Saturday, November 26, head to the historic Norse Hall for the Scandinavian Christmas Goat Market. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., peruse crafts and goods by local artisans while enjoying live music and food.
More than 20 vendors will be selling an array of Nordic goods in a high ceiling ballroom decorated with Nordic country flags.
In the basement, there will be Nordic food and drinks offered by five local Scandinavian organizations. In the kids area, there will be free Dala and Jul goat crafts and LEGO villages.
Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for kids 12 and under. Tickets are sold at the door and in advance online.
Norse Hall is located at 111 NE 11th Ave. in Portland. For more information, visit New Sweden Cultural Heritage Society’s website.
