There is something magical about a tree covered in mesmerizing lights and charming decorations. It is even more impressive when the tree stands at 75 feet tall.
On the day after Thanksgiving, Portlanders are invited to ring in the holiday season with good tidings and cheer. The annual Portland Tree Lighting Ceremony celebrates the illumination of the city’s centerpiece of the holiday season.
2022 Portland Tree Lighting Ceremony
The 38th annual Portland Tree Lighting Ceremony is Friday, November 25 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The event is back in-person for 2022.
At the event, the sing-a-long will be led by Thomas Lauderdale from Pink Martini, local musicians and chorale singers. The sounds of music a cheer all lead up to the big moment. Santa Claus will flips the switch to light the 75-foot Douglas fir will be illuminated with 14,000 colorful lights.
There will also be special pre-show performances this year, including The Beat Goes On Marching Band from 4-4:30 p.m. and the Portland Interfaith Gospel Choir from 4:30-5 p.m.
