Every year, Portland Bureau of Transportation opens Portland streets to a special kind of traffic during Sunday Parkways.
This summer program lets bikers, walkers and rollers stroll Portland neighborhoods together like one big mobile block party. It is family friendly and always draws big crowds of Portlanders looking to be active and enjoy the perks of pedestrian-only pathways.
In 2024, there are three events in Portland. Each event has its own route. Along the routes you’ll see pit stops at parks and green spaces. Each stop has its own activities, such as food vendors, entertainment, games, live music and more.
There is no starting or finishing point. You can join the route wherever it is most convenient for you. Each event has a map and a designated path that bikers and walkers follow.
Here are the details on the 2024 Sunday Parkways.
2024 Sunday Parkways
Southwest Portland
Sunday, September 22
11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The 2-mile multi-modal Southwest Portland route includes a separate 1.5-mile walking route. Enjoy Gabriel Park as you stroll along the flat walking route or feel the wind in your hair as you ride the neighborhood hills.
Enjoy free activities and entertainment as you go. Here’s what happening at each stop:
Gabriel Park
At Gabriel Park, enjoy Circus Cascadia Interactive family-friendly circus activities, an exercise circuit with Kaiser Permanente, PBOT’s Maintenance Team displaying vehicles and equipment.
At 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., meet at White Cane Safety booth for a ½-mile walk with white cane and guide dog users to learn about navigation and safety techniques.
Music is performed on stage from 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
Multnomah Village
Adaptive BIKETOWN is displaying a sample of bicycles for people who is not comfortable with traditional two-wheeled bicycles
You can also participate in a community mural with Kaiser Permanente, sign up for bike karaoke, eating the colors of the rainbow with Kaiser Permanente and shop Multnomah Village businesses and Native artists and vendors hosted by Native American Youth and Family Center.
Multnomah Arts Center
JoinRiver City E-Bikes and test ride E-City, E-Cargo and E-Gravel models in the Multnomah Arts Center parking lot.
From 12-3 p.m., Rose City Rollers and the Skatemobile has 150 pairs of skates for all ages to enjoy free of charge.
There’s also an entertainment stage with performances from 11:00 a.m.-3:40 p.m.
Spring Garden Park
Join an art activity with Children’s Healing Arts Program, enjoy some tunes with DJ Doc Rock and engage with Echo Theatre Company’s play area featuring tumbling and juggling.
Along the Route
Along the route, you’ll find Boom Bike PDX performances by Heather Normandale on this pedal-powered mobile stage.Erik the Magician is skating around while performing street magic.
You can also join SW Trails for a guided walk along the 1.5-mile walking route as you explore the neighborhood. Here’s where to join:
- Depart from Spring Garden info booth at 11:30 a.m.
- Depart from Multnomah Village SW Capitol Hwy & 36 Ave info booth at 12:30
- Depart from Gabriel Park info booth at 1:15 p.m.
- Depart from Multnomah Village SW Capitol Hwy & 36 Ave info booth at 2:00 p.m.

Past Events
East Portland
Sunday, May 19
11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Travel through East Portland along a 3.3-mile down-and-back route. Stop by the features parks as you roll: Gateway Discovery Park, Ventura Park and Lincoln Park.
Enjoy free activities and entertainment as you go. Here’s what happening at each stop:
Gateway Discovery Park
At Gateway Discovery Park, BIKETOWN provides bikes for people to ride along the route. There’s City Repair’s T Horse, a mobile tea house with complimentary drinks, participate in a community mural and eat healthy snacks with Kaiser Permanente.
From 12-3 p.m., Rose City Rollers is onsite with the Skatemobile, a mobile skate rental truck equipped with 150 pairs of skates for all ages to enjoy for free.
Plus, the music stage hosts performers from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., including a jazz ensemble, swing orchestra, and singers.
Ventura Park
At Ventura Park, Circus Cascadia is hosting interactive family-friendly circus activities. Participate in an easy exercise circuit with Kaiser Permanente.
The fitness stage is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with Zumba and DJ Prashant.
Lincoln Park
At Lincoln Park, check out the Portland Bureau of Transportation’s Maintenance Team Vehicles and equipment on display and play games with Kaiser Permanente.
From 11 a.m.-4 p.m., the music stage is hosting a DJ, Hip Hop dance performances and Bike Play performance.
Along the Route
There’s music from DJ Doc Rock, bike karaoke, a pedal-powered mobile stage and a magician performing street magic.

Northeast Cully
Sunday, June 16
11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This 6.2-mile route meanders along neighborhoods and crosses a few business districts, including Northeast 42nd and Alberta. The route takes you by Fernhill Park, Kʰunamokwst Park, Wellington Park and a grassy boulevard called Roseway Parkway.

Khunamokwst Park
Move your body at Kaiser Permanente’s easy exercise circuit.
Make Music Day PDX will have performers on the stage from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Stronger Skatepark is providing skateboard gear while teaching the basics of pushing and riding.
Rose City Rollers and the Skatemobile have 150 pairs of skates for all ages to enjoy free of charge from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Portland Bureau of Transportation’s Maintenance Team is displaying vehicles and equipment.
Fernhill Park
Adaptive Bike Clinic has a fleet of adaptive bikes to ride and trained professionals available to assist with fitting.
Circus Cascadia Interactive is hosting family-friendly circus activities.
Play games with Kaiser Permanente.
Make Music Day PDX will have performers on the stage from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Roseway Parkway
Eat the colors of the rainbow with Kaiser Permanente.
Enjoy Echo Theatre Company’s play area featuring stilt walkers and jugglers.
Look for NakedHeartsPDX and sign up for bike karaoke.
Work out at the fitness stage from 11:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. There’s Zumba and Bollywood dancing.
Wellington Park
Make a community mural with Kaiser Permanente.
Listen to musicians at the SoundsTruck NW Music Stage from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Along the Route
Enjoy live music from DJ Doc Rock as you walk and roll past.
