Celebrate the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with the World Arts Foundation.

Since 1978, the World Arts Foundation has been celebrating and preserving African-American contributions in American culture. The organization brings together arts and education for community leaders, artists, educators, activists and youth. Initiatives include documenting the black experience in Portland’s historic Albina District; preserving historic Albina musician community of the late 20th century; and providing supplemental education programs to at-risk middle school and high school youth.

2026 World Arts Foundation’s Martin Luther King Tribute

On Monday, January 19, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. celebrate the life and legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. with the World Arts Foundation.

The historic event honors pioneering activists, community leaders, artists, musicians and youth whose efforts have left lasting impacts in Oregon’s African-American community.

Activities include:

Inspiring speakers reflect on Dr. King’s legacy of justice, equality and unity.
Entertainment, including drumming, spoken word, music, storytelling, education and cultural expression.
The marketplace features local businesses, community organizations and artists.

The family-friendly event is free to attend.
