As the clock ticks down to the final moments of the year, Milwaukie is gearing up for a unique and exciting New Year’s Eve celebration, Bing in the New Year. The event promises to be both family-friendly and fantastically festive.
Milwaukie holds a special place in the history of the Bing cherry. It was first cultivated in this charming town in 1875. To commemorate this rich legacy, the Milwaukie Arts Committee has organized an evening of joy and jubilation for locals and visitors alike.

2023 Bing in the New Year
Attend Bing in the New Year on December 31 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The Milwaukie Arts Committee invites the community to join in the revelry at the free event, aptly named Bing in the New Year, where the star of the show is none other than the beloved Bing cherry.
Entertainment
The event promises a delightful array of entertainment for all ages. Live music is provided by Roadside Attraction, creating an electric atmosphere with their dynamic performance. The celebration will also feature a mesmerizing Chinese lion dance by International Lion Dances.
As a special treat for art enthusiasts, the Milwaukie Arts Committee will unveil a new permanent cherry sculpture crafted by Tyler FuQua Creations. This stunning addition will find its home in the sculpture garden next to the historic City Hall.
Food
For those looking to satisfy their taste buds, Hearth & Soul Pizza bus is on-site along with a beer and mead garden by Wyrd Meadery and Ridgewalker Brewing offering a variety of beverages to toast to the approaching new year.
Cherry Drop
The highlight of the night is the lowering of a 7-foot, lighted cherry sculpture at 9 p.m., coinciding with the East Coast midnight celebrations.
The event is in the parking lot at the intersection of SE Main and SE Harrison streets in downtown Milwaukie.
