Portland’s Largest Summer Block Party
The annual Mississippi Street Fair brings together the eclectic, flavorful, fun-loving flair of one of Portland’s best neighborhoods into the largest family-friendly block party of the summer. Mark your calendar for this year’s event on Saturday, July 13.
If you’re interested in other street fairs this summer, check out our list.
In true street fair fashion, it is a totally free event in the heart of Mississippi street—from N. Fremont to Skidmore. From 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., the street will be for foot traffic only.
Sidewalks overflow with homemade goods, specialty crafts, fun activities and lots of tasty food that all exhibits the many talents of our nearby friends and neighbors. More than 250 vendors are currently signed up for the event.
Mississippi Street Fair is also a mecca for live music with 5 stages all set to showcase talented local musicians. This year’s event will also have a grandfather’s rib-off as well as a kids zone.
The businesses along the street make the most of the day by giving you many fun freebies and chances to win gift cards and other cool merch.
If you’re anything like me, you want to know exactly where you’re going at big events with lots of people. Mississippi Avenue has an awesome interactive map of its local businesses so you can plan ahead and make the most of your time at the event.
My advice is to get there early. Street parking is free, but be prepared to search far and wide for a good spot. Also, I recommend bringing a water bottle (it’s going to be hot) and pack a bag for any treasures you find.
