Free Thanksgiving Dinners in Portland

In the true spirit of the season, when community and generosity are the centerpiece, organizations throughout Portland are serving free Thanksgiving dinner.

Thanksgiving is a time-honored tradition of coming together to share a bountiful feast. If you’re looking for a free hot meal, visit one of these local organization to enjoy a meal onsite or take it to go. These meals are available to everyone. 

You’ll get a full plate of turkey, chicken or vegetarian meal with the fixings at these Portland locations. Note the dates and times for each organization.

Where to Enjoy a Free Thanksgiving Dinner in Portland

Union Gospel Mission’s Thanksgiving Meal Service

Thursday, November 27, at 10 a.m.-noon

Union Gospel Mission serves a Thanksgiving meal for dine in or meal to go. 

The meal is served at 3 NW 3rd Ave. in Portland.

St. John the Apostle Church

Thursday, November 27, at 10:30-11:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.

In Oregon City, St. John the Apostle Church hosts two Thanksgiving meal options:

• Takeout from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
• Dine in from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.

The church is at 417 Washington St. in Oregon City.

Po’ Shines Cafe De La Soul Free Meal

Thursday, November 27, from noon-4 p.m.

The Proper Thanksgiving Feast-ival has been a beloved Kenton tradition for 26 years. This year, Po’ Shines Cafe de la Soul serves up a top-quality menu of traditional Thanksgiving favorites to go. There are vegetarian options, too.

Po’ Shine’s is at 8139 N. Denver Ave. in Portland.

American Legion 180 Thanksgiving Meal

Thursday, November 27, from 1-4 p.m.

Head to the American Legion Milwaukie Post 180 for a free Thanksgiving meal. Everyone is welcome. 

The legion is at 2146 SE Monroe St. in Milwaukie.

Prost! Portland

Thursday, November 27, at 6 p.m.

Prost! Portland serves a free Thanksgiving meal each year. The annual Prostgiving offers a complimentary feast of homemade turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes. Visitors are welcome to bring a side dish or dessert to share with everyone.

PDX Saints Love’s Holidays in the Park

Friday, November 28 and Friday, December 26, from 5-7 p.m.

Enjoy a sit down turkey dinner complete with garlands, centerpieces, music and twinkle lights at PDX Saints Love’s Holidays in the Park. There’s also hot cocoa, sweet treats, gift bags and winter necessities, while supplies last. Everyone is invited. 

The event is at Lents Park at the corner of 92nd Ave and Holgate.

Tigard Church of God Free Thanksgiving Dinner

Saturday, November 22, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Enjoy a free Thanksgiving dinner on the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving at Tigard Church of God. Dinner includes turkey, mash potatoes and gravy, dressing, green beans, cranberry sauce, roll with butter and pie.

Tigard Church of God is at 15670 SW 98th Ave. in Tigard.

Dream for Life’s Free Thanksgiving Dinner

Saturday, November 22, from 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Living Hope Church is hosting its annual free Thanksgiving dinner. Everyone is welcome.

Living Hope Church is at 2711 NE Andresen Rd. in Vancouver.

Trap Kitchen Free the Community

Sunday, November 22, from 4-10 p.m.

Every year, Trap Kitchen partners with local organizations to offer free turkeys and holiday fixings along with free hot Thanksgiving plates of food to the community. Here’s the schedule for this year’s event: 

4-6 p.m.

Frozen turkeys and holiday essentials are available for families. All food items are first come, first served. 

6-10 p.m.

Enjoy a full evening of good food and activities, including:

• Free hot holiday meals
• Free haircuts
• Raffles and giveaway prizes
•  Arts and craft
• Cookie decorating
• Fifth-eighth grade basketball tournament
• Music, games and youth activities

The event is at Blazers Boys & Girls Club, 5250 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. in Portland.
