Celebrate the beginning of Hanukkah at menorah lighting celebrations in and around Portland..

Hanukkah 2022 begins on the evening of Sunday, December 18 and ends on the evening of Monday, December 26.

All of these events are taking place on the first day of Hanukah, December 18, unless stated below. These events are free to attend and open to all ages.

Menorah Lighting Celebrations in and around Portland

First Night at Pioneer Courthouse Square 

Sunday, December 18 at 4:30-6 p.m.

This year’s event is dedicated to refugees from Ukraine, who will light the first candle. Entertainment includes:

• Live Klezmer Music by Ukrainian Music Group.
• Fire show.
• Menorah lighting.
• Fresh latkes for all.

Chabad of Oregon will light Portland’s Public Hanukkah menorah from December 18-25.

Pioneer Courthouse Square is located at 701 SW 6th Ave. in downtown Portland.

Chanukah Celebration at Tanner Springs Park

Sunday, December 18 at 4 p.m.

Join Chabad Northwest Portland for a Chanukah Celebration including:

• Live music with beautiful Jewish melodies.
• Warm beverages, latkes, dreidels and chocolate gelt.
• Free Menorah kits and bring the light of Chanukah home.

The event is held at Tanner Springs Park, NW 10th Ave and Marshall Street in Portland.

Light Up Hillsboro

Sunday, December 18 at 4:15-5:45 p.m. 

Chabad Jewish Center Hillsboro is hosting a public menorah lighting with: 

• Doughnuts
• Latkes
• Fire juggler
• Music

This event is at Orenco Station Plaza, 943 NE Orenco Station Pkwy in Hillsboro.

Gresham Giant Menorah Lighting

Sunday, December 18 at 4:30-5:30 p.m. 

Gresham Chabad Jewish Center is hosting a giant menorah lighting complete with these activities:

• Chanukah music and spirit.
• Donuts and chocolates.
• Bring a can of food to donate to local food pantries and create a canorah.

The event is held at the Gresham Arts Plaza, 401 NE 2nd St. in Gresham.

Community Chanukah Celebration in Vancouver

Sunday, December 18 at 4:30 p.m.

Join the Vancouver Chabad Jewish Center for the annual menorah lighting, including:

• Dreidel drop
• Hot chocolate and donuts
• Live music
• LED circus act

The event is held at Esther Short Park, 605 Esther St. in Vancouver.

Beaverton Menorah Lighting Celebration

Tuesday, December 20, at 5:45 p.m.

Enjoy the menorah lighting and music and treats with special guest Mayor Lacey Beaty.

The event is at Beaverton City Park, SW 5th St and SW Hall Blvd. in Beaverton.
