Do you love looking up at the stars? Join the experts and celebrate astronomy at OMSI Star Parties.
The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, better known as OMSI, is one of the nation’s leading science centers and we’re lucky to have it right here in Portland. Science lovers and explorers of the unknown will marvel at the special exhibits, hands-on labs and planetarium, 4-story screen theater and much more. The local attraction also hosts a monthly discount day with $5 tickets.
OMSI has outreach opportunities in the community throughout the year, including student camps, science pubs and star parties.

2026 OMSI Star Parties
Join OMSI, Rose City Astronomers and Oregon Parks and Recreation at star parties this summer. OMSI Star Parties let you meet others interested in astronomy while you view planets, the moon, stars and other celestial sights through telescopes and binoculars of all sizes.
From beginners to experts, all ages are invited to enjoy the beauty of our night’s sky at the star party events.
Be sure to pack warm clothing. You can also bring along a flashlight with red light, personal telescopes and binoculars.

Saturday, June 6
L.L. Stub Stewart State Park
View the planets, moon, stars and other celestial sights through telescopes and binoculars of all sizes at dusk to midnight
Plus, parking is free on June 6 in celebration of Oregon State Parks Day!
Saturday, July 18
L.L. Stub Stewart State Park
Take a drive to the park for a special evening viewing the summer night sky from dusk to midnight.
These event is free to attend. Parking is $10. The park has lots of fun activities you can enjoy before stargazing.
Wednesday, August 12
L.L. Stub Stewart State Park and Rooster Rock State Park
Join the Perseid meteor shower watch party starting at dusk.
These event is free to attend. Parking is $10. The park has lots of fun activities you can enjoy before stargazing.
Saturday, September 12
L.L. Stub Stewart State Park
Look at the stars during this equinox celebration starting at dusk.
These event is free to attend. Parking is $10. The park has lots of fun activities you can enjoy before stargazing.
