Enjoy an afternoon of live classical music without spending a dime. The Oregon Sinfonietta is performing a free symphony concert in Portland on Sunday, November 1, featuring a world premiere and two orchestral works.

The concert takes place at Sunnyside Seventh-day Adventist Church in Southeast Portland. Admission is free, although donations are welcome.

Free Oregon Sinfonietta Concert

The Oregon Sinfonietta’s November concert features three works, including the world premiere of In Memoriam, composed by the orchestra’s conductor, Dr. Donald L. Appert.

The piece honors two late Oregon Sinfonietta musicians, violist Carl Schnoor and bassoonist William Dameron.

The program also includes:

• Ernest John Moeran’s In the Mountain Country: An orchestral work inspired by the landscapes of Ireland.

• Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition: A musical journey through an art gallery, performed in Maurice Ravel’s orchestral arrangement.

Now in its 54th season, the award-winning Oregon Sinfonietta brings together approximately 70 community musicians from across the Portland metro area. The nonprofit orchestra presents four free concerts each season, making live symphonic music accessible to everyone.
