45th Annual Portland Regional Gem and Mineral Show

Rock hounds, fossil fans and anyone who likes a good shiny object can spend a weekend digging into their interests at the Portland Regional Gem and Mineral Show.

The annual Hillsboro event brings together dozens of Northwest dealers, more than 70 displays, hands-on demonstrations and activities for kids. Even better for budget-conscious families, admission is $7 for the entire weekend and free for kids 12 and under.

Here’s what to know about the 2026 Portland Regional Gem and Mineral Show.

2026 Portland Regional Gem and Mineral Show

The 45th annual Portland Regional Gem and Mineral Show is October 2-4, 2026, at the Wingspan Event and Conference Center at Westside Commons in Hillsboro.

Hours are:

• Friday, October 2: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
• Saturday, October 3: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
• Sunday, October 4: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

The show is organized by five area nonprofit clubs and focuses on lapidary arts, geology, paleontology and mineralogy.

What You’ll Find at the Gem and Mineral Show

More than 40 dealers from around the Northwest are scheduled to sell rocks, minerals, fossils, jewelry, beads, faceted gems and lapidary supplies.

Visitors can also browse more than 70 displays featuring rocks, minerals and fossils. Exhibits range from competitive displays to collections created by junior rock hounds and other collectors.

Throughout the weekend, experienced artisans demonstrate skills such as wire wrapping, beading, cabbing and faceting. Presentations for both adults and children are also part of the event.

Activities for Kids

There’s plenty here for young rock hounds, too. The show includes a kids corner with games and prizes, an interactive fossil area and a cell phone scavenger hunt through the displays.

Kids can also enter hourly drawings for a chance to learn how to pan for real gold with the Northwest Mineral Prospectors Club. Children must be accompanied by an adult during presentations.

The weekend also includes door prizes, raffles and silent auctions.

Admission and Location

Admission to the Portland Regional Gem and Mineral Show is $7 for a weekend pass. Kids 12 and under get in free.

Keep in mind that the venue charges separately for parking. Organizers suggest carpooling or taking MAX to avoid the parking fee.
