Since 2014, The Tesla City Stories has delighted local audiences with monthly theater performances like no other. This local, original production was started right here in Portland, Oregon. It continues to grow in popularity with most shows selling out.

Local actors take the stage to perform live radio theater derived from the long-lost radio programs of Tesla Broadcasting Company. The shows cover sitcoms, thrillers, mysteries, romantic comedies with forays into westerns, sci-fi and horror. All performances are based in the fictional locale of Tesla City. It’s also never the same show twice.

The Tesla City Stories Show Details

Monthly performances are held at the historic Old Church Concert Hall. The next event is Friday, November 21, at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Come out and enjoy a night of live theater complete with drama, romance, comedy, thrills and chills. The show includes live foley sound effect artists, 1940s live music performances, prizes and audience participation, including an applause sign.

Food, drink and adult beverages are available for purchase at the show. In true cabaret style, you can eat and drink in the main theater.

The stories are always new and never repeated. The November 21 show features:

• The Off-key Life of Viola Harper! – A sitcom detailing the travails of a hapless, would-be Broadway chanteuse.
• Enjoy a special “globetrotting” pair of episodes wherein everybody’s favorite Big T couple head across the pond to see how the war is treating Old London Town!
• In an episode of The Off-Key Life of Viola Harper entitled “Puttin’ On the Blitz,” Viola’s been invited to perform for the USO in London! Wait – really? Will her performance do to The Big Smoke what Hitler’s Luftwaffe couldn’t? Roll out and see! Get tickets.
• The Wilde Card Mysteries – A detective show featuring affable, nearly always broke P.I. Jack Wilde.
• Then, in The Wilde Card Mysteries, Jack has accompanied Viola to London but instead of sightseeing, this private eye becomes embroiled in a most unlikely and unintentional abduction case. The nabbed party? Movie star David Niven! It all unfolds in “The Niven-napping Caper.” There’ll be laughs, music, action, and feels. 
• Special musical guests: The Juleps!

Although time is a relative concept, the show at the Old Church Concert Hall starts Friday, November 21, at 7:30 p.m. sharp.
