Have you ever wondered what storytelling was like before modern technology? See it come to life right before your eyes at The Tesla Stories Live Vintage Radio Theater Onstage. The show takes you back in time with vintage radio theater live and direct from 1944.
Since 2014, The Tesla City Stories has delighted local audiences with monthly theater performances like no other. This local, original production was started right here in Portland, Oregon. It continues to grow in popularity with most shows selling out.
Local actors take the stage to perform live radio theater derived from the long-lost radio programs of Tesla Broadcasting Company. The shows cover sitcoms, thrillers, mysteries, romantic comedies with forays into westerns, sci-fi and horror. All performances are based in the fictional locale of Tesla City. It’s also never the same show twice.
Here’s how you can enjoy Portland’s most unique night out on the town and get an exclusive discount on tickets to the Friday, November 22, performance.

The Tesla City Stories Show Details
Monthly performances are held at the historic Old Church Concert Hall. The next event is Friday, November 22, at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Come out and enjoy a night of live theater complete with drama, romance, comedy, thrills and chills. The show includes live foley sound effect artists, 1940s live music performances, prizes and audience participation, including an applause sign.
Food, drink and adult beverages are available for purchase at the show. In true cabaret style, you can eat and drink in the main theater.
The stories are always new and never repeated. The November 22 show features:
- The main course is an episode of The Wilde Card Mysteries in which Jack and Dusty Mankowitz head to rural Wyoming to defend an old Army buddy who’s been charged with murder. The biggest problem? The accused isn’t sure if he’s innocent! All anyone is sure of is “The Killer Wore Fur.”
- And for an equally satisfying dessert please enjoy a vintage-but-fresh episode of Blevins to Betsy! This time around, our favorite radio stars and potential paramours have been roped into appearing on a float in Tesla City’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. What should be an easy, if tedious, gig takes a wrong turn (several, in fact) in an episode entitled “I Hate A Parade”.
- As for appetizers and side dishes? We got you covered with another installment of the TBC’s soap opera Nightingale of the Broken Heart and a set by special seasonal musical guests The Juleps! Mmm-mm! That’s good eatin’!
Treat yourself and your loved ones to a trip to Tesla City and let us do the cooking!
Although time is a relative concept, the show at the Old Church Concert Hall starts Friday, November 22, at 7:30 p.m. sharp.
