Every holiday season, Portland International Raceway transforms its track into the largest light show West of the Mississippi. Starting the day after Thanksgiving, you can visit Winter Wonderland any day of the week.
Since 1993, Winter Wonderland has been one of the must-see holiday light displays in Portland. Visitors view more than 250 colorful light set pieces and many fully animated scenes from the comfort of their own vehicle.
Proceeds from the event support the Sunshine Division, a local nonprofit that provides free emergency food and clothing to families and individuals in times of crisis.
Now that we’ve found each other, stay up-to-date on everything that’s happening this holiday season by signing up for my daily newsletter.
Here are all the details for this year’s Winter Wonderland:
2020 Winter Wonderland
Details
Since this event is viewed from the comfort of your car, most of it will be the same. The biggest change to the 2020 Winter Wonderland is there will not be the Bike the Lights or Lights & Leashes Nights.
Tickets will be available for online purchase only. Required masks when interacting with staff during check in and when if you need to exit your car to use the restroom.
Visitors are asked to have 6 or fewer individuals in their vehicles to abide by state pandemic guidelines. Also, tire chains or studded tires are not allowed on the PIR track.
The event will not be accepting food donations this year. If you’d like to give a little extra, you can make an additional donation to the Sunshine Division when purchasing your ticket.
Dates and Hours
The 2020 Winter Wonderland is taking place from November 27-January 2, including Christmas Eve and Day and New Year’s Eve and Day.
Hours are Sunday–Thursday, 5-9:30 p.m. and Friday–Saturday, 4:30-10 p.m. The week of Christmas, December 20-26, the light display will have special extended hours from 4:30-10 p.m.
Tickets
Tickets must be purchased in advance for your visit. You will not be assigned a time slot for your visit, so you’ll have the flexibility to arrive when you want during event hours. Weekdays are the best time to visit to avoid crowds (or should I say traffic?).
Ticket prices vary depending on the day of your visit:
- Monday–Thursday: $28
- Friday and Sunday: $33
- Saturday: $39
Tickets are available for purchase on the Winter Wonderland website.
Discounted tickets can be purchased at Portland-area Safeway and Albertsons locations for $20 per car. They will be available at the customer service desk in limited quantities starting in late November.
Portland International Raceway is located at 1940 N Victory Blvd in Portland. For more information on Winter Wonderland, visit winterwonderlandportland.com.
