Skip the candy and celebrate Halloween with a little magic, a walk through the park and a gift exchange that won’t cost you a dime.
The Witchy Women’s Halloween Walk and Magical Exchange takes place Saturday, October 31, 2026, at Laurelhurst Park in Portland. This free gathering invites women and gender-expansive people to connect, celebrate the season and exchange secondhand treasures.
Hosted by Kari Samuels and Theresa Tran, the event combines a Halloween gift exchange, conversations about self-worth and a leisurely autumn walk.
Here’s how to join the festivities.
Witchy Women’s Halloween Walk and Magical Exchange
The afternoon begins with a witchy twist on trick-or-treating. Instead of handing out candy, participants exchange wrapped gifts they already own.
The idea is simple: Bring something beautiful, useful or meaningful that’s in good condition but no longer serves you. It could be a piece of jewelry, a book, a decorative item or another small treasure someone else would love to receive.
It’s a fun way to give an unused item a second life while taking home something new to you.
The gathering also includes a discussion of Venus retrograde, with themes of relationships, self-worth and personal empowerment.
After the exchange, the group will take a leisurely walk through Laurelhurst Park, enjoying the fall scenery and connecting with fellow participants.
What to Bring
Participants should bring:
One wrapped gift: Choose something you already own that’s in good condition and would make a thoughtful gift.
Comfortable walking shoes: The group will explore the park together.
Weather-appropriate clothing: Dress for a late-October afternoon in Portland.
Halloween costumes and witchy attire are welcome but not required. Well-behaved dogs on leashes can also join the walk.
The event welcomes all women and gender-expansive people who feel connected to feminine energy.
Admission and Location
Admission: Free. Registration is requested.
The Witchy Women’s Halloween Walk and Magical Exchange meets at Laurelhurst Park, near the SE 33rd Avenue entrance between SE Ankeny and SE Ash Streets.
Look for the small alcove just inside the park entrance, where the group will gather before beginning the activities.
