Pioneer Courthouse Square is hosting the Great Figgy Pudding Caroling Competition.

Head downtown for a special evening of song and holiday cheer. While you’re there, stop by the Gingerbread Masterpiece at The Benson.

Here are the details on the 2023 event. 

2023 Great Figgy Pudding Caroling Competition

On Friday, December 8, from 6-7:30 p.m., carolers are taking over Portland’s Living Room as well as a ten-block radius in downtown. Visit Pioneer Courthouse Square, take a stroll around downtown and choose your favorite caroling group.

The Great Figgy Pudding Caroling Competition hosts more than a dozen singing groups that entertain visitors while competing for the coveted title of best carolers. Best of all, you and the crowd get to choose the winners.

Here’s the schedule: 

• 5:30-6 p.m. Arrive at Pioneer Courthouse Square and get your caroling map and voting tokens at the event tent.
• 6-7 p.m. Walk the caroling loop. Vote for your favorite caroling groups by adding a token to their collection bucket.
• 7 p.m. Meet back at the square to hear the top three caroling groups perform again in the final “carol-off” hosted by KGW’s Drew Carney.

The grand prize winner will be selected by crowd applause and awarded $1,000. Second and third place prizes, as well as people’s choice, will also be awarded.

The free caroling competition is held rain or shine. Pioneer Courthouse Square is located at 701 SW 6th Ave. in Portland. For more information, visit the square’s website.
