Silver Falls State Park becomes even more magical in December during the Winter Festival. Enjoy fun holiday activities while exploring this incredible Oregon park.
Here’s what you can enjoy at the free festival.
2025 Silver Falls Winter Festival
The Silver Falls Winter Festival is Saturday, December 13, and Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Enjoy family-friendly crafts, guided hikes and nature education.
Here are the activities in store for visitors:
- Make a wreath at the Evergreen Picnic Shelter.
- Build a bird nest box at the Creekside Shelter.
- Make a bird feeder or bird craft in the Stone Kitchen Shelter.
- Learn about the waterfalls, the winter solstice, lichens and animal tracks at the discovery table near South Falls.
There are also guided walks starting at the South Falls Lodge courtyard. Walks last one hour.
Here’s the schedule:
- 11 am: Winter Tree ID hike (1-hour hike, 1/2 mile)
- 12 pm: Mushroom ID hike (1-hour hike, 1/2 mile)
- 1 pm: Winter Tree ID hike (1-hour hike, 1/2 mile, Saturday only)
- 2 pm: Mushroom ID hike (1-hour hike, 1/2 mile)
A passport is available at the event welcome table. Stamp at least eight of the 12 activities and you’ll get a limited edition commemorative ornament.
There are also activities at Smith Creek Village. Decorate a gingerbread or sugar cookie, learn to propagate a native plant and take one home with you, and grab a bite to eat at Bigleaf Market & Grill.
All activities are free, but a $10 day-use parking permit is required. Annual state park parking permits are on sale for $30 in December and are available at the park.
While you’re visiting Silver Falls State Park, stop by the Silverton Christmas Market.
