Want to know what to do in Portland on November 27, 2025? Here’s a list of Thanksgiving events for you to enjoy!
Thanksgiving in Portland is one of my favorite days of the year. The streets are quiet. There’s no traffic. It is almost like the whole city is put on pause. Take advantage of this rare sleepy Thursday in Portland and check out one of these Thanksgiving events.
Now that we’ve found each other, stay up-to-date on everything that’s happening this holiday season by signing up for my free daily newsletter.
Also, if you visit downtown Portland on Thanksgiving, there is free street parking all day.
What to Do in Portland on Thanksgiving Day

Visit Topaz Farm
Head to Sauvie Island to visit the farm animals, enjoy a beverage by the fire, peruse the market and find the perfect Christmas tree during the Topaz Farm Winter Wonderland.
The farm is open 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on Thanksgiving at 17100 NW Sauvie Island Rd. in Portland.
Enjoy a Free Meal at a Portland Pub
Prost! Portland serves a free Thanksgiving meal each year. The annual Prostgiving offers a complimentary feast of homemade turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes. Visitors are welcome to bring a side dish or dessert to share with everyone.
Prost! is at 4237 N Mississippi Ave. in Portland.

Go on an Urban Hike
This is probably the best day to visit some of Portland’s best urban hikes. I recommend the Lower Macleay Park hike, which passes by the Witch’s Castle and ends at the Pittock Mansion with a beautiful view of the city.
Join the Tofurky Trot
Looking for a uniquely Portland activity to fill your Thanksgiving morning? Join the plant-based community at the annual Tofurky Trot at Oaks Park. Bring the whole family, and your friendly dog on leash, for a morning of exercise and community. Proceeds from the event benefit local farm sanctuaries.
Oaks Park is at 7805 SE Oaks Park Way in Portland.
Sing Karaoke at Chopsticks
Dubbing itself Portland’s most favorite karaoke bar, Chopsticks on NE Sandy location is open seven days a week, 365 days a year. The bar opens and 6 p.m. and karaoke starts at 8 p.m. Get a rice or noodle plate, fill up on some liquid courage and sing your heart out at this Portland treasure.

Stroll through the holiday lights at Meinig Park
Every year, Sandy’s crown jewel park transforms into a magical holiday experience. Visit the holiday lights at Meinig Park this season.
The holiday light display is free to visit and the lights are on every night from 6 to 9 p.m. through January 5.
Grab a Pastry and Coffee at Posie’s Cafe
Located in the heart of the Kenton neighborhood along Denver Ave., Posie’s Cafe serves up coffee and sweet and savory bites on Thanksgiving Day from 7 a.m. to noon.

Warm Up in the Soaking Pool
Here’s your chance to relax and warm your bones on Thanksgiving. McMenamins Kennedy School and Grand Lodge soaking pools are open on Thanksgiving.
Reservations are $10 and can be made online.
Get a Bite to Eat
Leave the stress of preparing a holiday feast behind by dining at one of these Portland restaurants. Locations across the city are hosting you and your loved ones on Thanksgiving day.
If you’re looking for free offerings, there are three locations serving up free Thanksgiving meals on Thursday.
Go to the Movies
Support local on Thanksgiving day by watching a movie at one of these independent theaters in and around Portland. Some have limited showtimes so I recommend getting tickets online in advance.
