Celebrate the luck of the Irish at the 36th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Portland.
It’s that time of the year again when the streets of the Irvington neighborhood in Portland transform into a sea of green, and the sound of bagpipes fills the air.
The parade is just around the corner, and it promises to be a special community celebration.
Here’s how you can watch and join the parade.
St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Portland
On Sunday, March 16, 2025 at 1 p.m., the parade steps off from Beverly Cleary School. Arrive early to secure a prime viewing spot along the parade route or join the parade.
Each year, the parade boasts a lineup of local groups that embody the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day. The Royal Rosarians, a marching band and bagpipers, and the Irish Wolfhound Club of the Willamette Valley are among the annual participants.
But perhaps one of the most unique features is the “Truck o’ Pats.” Parade organizer Steve Slavik extends an open invitation to anyone named Pat or Patricia to ride in the bed of his old GMC pickup, which proudly displays a “Truck o’ Pats” sign. This fun tradition adds a touch of whimsy to the festivities.
