Leach Botanical Garden invites you to an illuminated experience at the Winter Solstice Walk.
Leach Botanical Garden is a natural oasis nestled in Southeast Portland. The 16-acre estate features more than 2,000 plant species growing along the banks of Johnson Creek. Adding to the unique charm is the historic manor house, stone cabin, bridge crossing and gift shop.
Last April, the outdoor escape opened its expansive upper garden. Stroll among the treetops on the aerial treewalk and see a whole new side of the garden at the fireside arbor and terrace and pollinator garden. Also included in the project are accessible pathways, parking areas, restrooms and a new entry area with a path leading from the upper garden to the manor house.
The Winter Solstice Walk event lets you see the garden come to life in a whole new way. At dusk, meander along Leach Botanical Garden’s pathways illuminated by special solstice lighting.
The Winter Solstice Walk at Leach Botanical Garden is taking place Tuesday, December 21 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The price is $5 per person and free for kids 12 and under. Advance registration is not required.
Complimentary tea and coffee will be available. Bella’s Italian Bakery cookies will be available for sale.
Be sure to dress for the weather and be prepared for sloping garden paths and stairs.
The garden is located at 6704 SE 122nd Ave. in Portland. For more information, visit Leach Botanical Garden’s website. Before you visit, check the website for weather updates or cancellations.
