Get ready for a joyful day of music, dancing and Swedish culture at the Portland Midsummer Festival.
The annual event is hosted by New Sweden Cultural Heritage Society, an organization that has shared and preserved Swedish culture and heritage since 1989.
Midsummer, or midsommar, is a Swedish celebration of life and love during the summer solstice, the longest day of the year.
Here’s how you can participate in this local celebration:
Portland Midsummer Festival at Oaks Park
The Portland Midsummer Festival is Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 11 a.m.–4 p.m. at Oaks Amusement Park. This beloved annual tradition brings the community together to honor one of Sweden’s most cherished celebrations.
At the heart of the festivities is the raising of the Maypole (known in Swedish as majstång or midsommarstång), followed by traditional circle dances that bring people of all ages together in celebration.
Plus, there’s activities for kids and adults alike. Enjoy flower crown making, live entertainment, craft and food vendors, lawn games, crafts and dancing.
Don’t miss out on the food options. Vendors are on-site selling read-to-eat options and also packaged foods. You can also bring your own food and drink.
