The Portland Mercado is the hub of Latin culture in our city. The public market space features eight food carts and five indoor businesses representing the diverse flavors of Latin America.
This weekend, the food carts and businesses at the Portland Mercado are cooking up something special.
Tamales Festival at Portland Mercado
The Tamales Festival is happening March 22-26 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Each tamale is made from traditional recipes and represents the cuisine and origins of each food cart and business. Savor the flavors of different styles of tamales with different fillings and wrappings. Meat and vegetarian options are available.
How it works
Step 1: Browse and learn about each of the business’s tamales on Portland Mercado’s website.
Step 2: Order through the options listed under each food cart and business, either in-person, by phone, online or a delivery service.
Step 3: Enjoy your order at the mercado or at home.
Festival menu
You can choose from tamales at multiple businesses all featuring traditional Latin American recipes. Cuisine includes Peruvian, Oaxacan, Costa Rican, Cuban and Mexican.

Havana Station
Pork and chicken Cuban tamales.
Fernando’s Alegria
Chicken and vegetarian Mexican tamales.
Tita’s Kitchen
Peruvian pork tamales wrapped in banana leaves.
Carreta Pura Vida
Chicken, pork and cheese with green chile Costa Rican tamales.
XŎCOTL
Sweet corn tamale topped with mango-passion fruit sauce.
